We have had a bunch of new people starting in the last couple of weeks, and one of the questions we keep getting asked is what to do to lose weight.

We know that most people are looking to slim down and look better – heck, we all want to look better, right?

The thing is, we are going to tell you something that most people won’t.  Ready?  Pay attention…

Most diets don’t work.

I know, not exactly something new.  If you have struggled for a while to lose weight, look better and feel good, you probably already know that most fad diets don’t work.  You may not want to admit it to yourself, but you have tried all of these for a while and a couple of things happen.

  1. You lose some weight, but gain it back
  2. You find that you are hungry all the time
  3. You can’t stick with it
  4. Your busy life won’t let you follow the new diet
  5. and on and on…

Now, I am going to tell you something you don’t want to hear.  There is no magic bullet.  There is no pill, smoothie, drink, protein bar, or anything else that will make you look like those people on TV.

Now, I am going to tell you the secret to looking like you want to… you ready?  You need to change your lifestyle!!

Okay, maybe not the revelation that you were looking for, but you need to understand that without a major overhaul of your life, you won’t reach the goals that you have been struggling with.  It’s tough to hear, but you will need to make some changes if you want to reach your goals.  Progress isn’t easy, but with help it can be reached.

The changes I am talking about are simple, yet difficult:

  • stop eating out – you can’t believe how bad prepared food is and how much money you will save
  • Plan your meals – you need to monitor the “fuel for your engine”
  • Don’t try to not cheat – just try to limit the bad food you consume
  • Don’t buy unhealthy food – if it’s not in the pantry, you won’t eat it
  • Make sure everyone in your house is on the same page – no temptations
  • Find people that have the same goals as you and understand what you are trying to do – find someone with experience to talk to

Now, we recommend the Paleo diet, because we have had the most results changing our eating habits with this approach.  We recommend this because it provides the fuel that your body needs, limits the toxins that your body takes in, and gives you the high octane fuel that your body needs to complete the workouts at peak.

Okay, what is the paleo diet?

Simply put, you only eat what a caveman would eat.

There, you know everything we do.  No selling miracle pills, shakes, diet plans, meetings or anything else.  If a caveman could find, harvest or kill it, then eat it.

It can be a little more complicated than that, but if you follow that simple rule, then you are on your way.

You need to consume lean meats, vegetables, some fruits and nuts.  Nothing more, and lots of it.  Stay away from processed foods – wheats, pastas, preservatives, salts, sugars, hormones, & anything else that a caveman couldn’t have gotten.

I know, it’s sounds horrible.  Just meats, veggies and nuts – who could live on that.  We need to tell you, it’s easier than you think.  If you plan out your meals and make sure to follow it as much as possible, then you will see results.

In plain English, you need to change your habits, your meal plans and force yourself to make the changes.
